You read that right, tonight we went to France! We made French flag placements, found France on the world map, discussed facts about the country, and listened to french music all while eating Nutella and Strawberry Crepes! All we needed was a beautiful sidewalk cafe with a view of the Eiffel Tower! It was “country dinner” night in our house.
These dinner nights are one of the new traditions we have begun since being involved in foster care. Our family became a multicultural family overnight, a fact that I Love, but also a fact that comes with its challenges.
We realized quickly that there are many things about the culture our foster children that we don’t know, and even more that we don’t understand. That caused us to work to learn about the culture they came from as well as to promote understanding by teaching all our kids about a variety of cultures. Our monthly dinners are just one of the ways we hope to accomplish this.
Join us next month as we visit Jamaica!
